Fortnite Creative blends the fun of Fortnite with great science content thanks to its physics engine and ability to automate functions in the beautiful sandbox environment. Imagine the fun your students will have creating Rube Goldberg Machine in Fortnite or running their own collision based science experiments! Hear how students are using Fortnite to develop and test hypotheses while engaging in the iterative design process.

Steve Isaacs  Education Program Manager | Epic Games

Steve Isaacs is the Education Program Manager at Epic Games. His mission in this role is to support educators and students in exploring career opportunities that leverage interactive 3d skills. Prior to his role at Epic, Steve was a public school teacher for 28 years, teaching game design and development as well as other courses related to creative uses of technology. Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends. His hobbies include gaming, biking, snorkeling, hiking and live music.

 

Al Gonzalez  6th Grade Science & STEAM Teacher | Chimacum Elementary School

Alfonso (Al) Gonzalez has been teaching for 30 years, 24 of those in Chimacum, WA. Al has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Science and other subjects in the middle school and currently teaches 5th and 6th grade Math, Science, and STEM in the elementary. Al uses a gamified approached to teaching as well as incorporating game-based learning and he also coaches a 6th grade Minecraft Esports club. Al got his Bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University and he is a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Early Adolescent Generalist.
